Excerpt: Eventually, the corduroy sound of a log bridge beneath our tires woke me. I tried to sleep again, but snapped my eyes open when we took an abrupt left-hand turn onto an uneven smaller road. The Jetta tipped to an almost forty-five degree angle as we flew down it at racetrack speed. I saw while I had slept, the sun had dropped low on the hills.

A short story about an Earth Ambassador's attache.

Excerpt: All at once I heard a violent sound come from the Governor. My Ambassador jumped, as did I, and I jerked my attention back to the Zorakian. He emitted another violent outburst, and I realized it was a sneeze. He pulled his tentacle away from his nose, and great yellow globs of slime dropped onto the floor. Rust colored mucous strung in long ropes from the tip of his tentacle as he reached toward the Earth Ambassador.

A novelette about a young girl and her horse.

Excerpt:  Katie knew if she ran, she would frighten Jet, so shewalked slowly toward the mare, crooning as she went. When she finally had ahold, she slipped the halter onto Jet and gave her a big hug. She was so relieved to find Jet safe. Then she noticed four black skinny legs tripping in the long grass under the other side of Jet's belly. Her heart jumped. Peeking around the mare's neck she saw a pair of bright little eyes and sharp little ears.
